Dr Matthew Cahill is a Consultant Psychiatrist, specialising in General Adult and Eating Disorder Psychiatry.

He qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 2000 and completed his psychiatric training in London in 2006.

He has worked in a variety of cities including Cardiff, Liverpool, Manchester and London, as well as Brisbane and Perth in Australia. This has helped him to develop his knowledge and skill in many different areas of psychiatry.

His special interests include post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, capacity and the interface between physical and mental illness.

Matthew Cahill Consulting can provide medical reports, medicolegal reports and second opinion assessments for a wide range of psychiatric disorders including:

  • Eating Disorders
  • Mood Disorders
  • Psychotic disorders
  • Personality Disorders
  • Somatoform Disorders
  • Anxiety Disorders including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders
  • Capacity Assessments

He can assess clients at his rooms in Hale and Altrincham, but he can also travel to the client, if required. In most cases, clients can be seen within two weeks, with a four week turnaround for the completion of the assessment and the report.

Dr Matthew Cahill can provide bespoke training in many areas of mental health and team development. He has trained a variety of clinicians, as well as social workers, approved mental health professionals and allied health professionals in the United Kingdom. He is also an accredited Myers Briggs Type Indicator facilitator.
